Question

Not holding air

I purchased an air bed within the past year, and it has started losing air. I have gone over the air mattress and it does not appear to have any holes, and therefore I cannot figure out why it would be losing air. Could it possibly be a faulty valve where the air pump goes.

It depends on the environment. The valve can leak in a very dry room. It would be a very slow leak. Usually requiring half a minute to 'topup'. If the mattress deflates completely overnight then it is a major leak and most probably is a hole in the material somewhere.

Depending on the desired firmness, the fill time is about 4 minutes.

Every air bed that I've owned (and I've owned several different brands) feels like it loses air when I'm camping. It's because of the temperature change from day to night - air takes up a lot more space when it's warm then when it's cold. That said, the amount it decreases shouldn't be considerable. You could contact customer service at your local store - if you purchased it within the past year, it would still be covered with the 1-year warranty.

It seems to me that these reviews are mixed, but mine works fine, so I guess it really depends on which box you grab in the store.

Absolutely! This will be my 4th year using mine. I have been tent camping it seems like forever, and this certainly took the "roughing it" out of camping. I have a tent with a big vestibule, and took a small car battery with me, one of the 75 watt cigarette lighter inverters to give me 110 volts, and it was great. Yes it looses air, which is another question posted, but I have never met an air mattress that doesn't. The air loss is tiny, I "topped it up" every 3rd or 4th day. As for weight, I'm 260 lb and it has no issue with me, though that might have contributed a lot to that small air loss. The built in pump is extremely fast at inflating and deflating, and a snap to use. I can sincerely recommend this mattress.

The inflation and deflation time varies depending on how firmn you want the mattress. On average, though, the inflation time is 4 minutes. I really don’t have anything on the deflation times but I would think 4 - 5 minutes wouldn’t be unreasonable.

Question

air pump - can you use an external pump like coleman's?

we camp without electricity, can you use an external coleman pump that plugs into the car cigarette lighter to inflate this bed?

Easy and practical solution that I use is one of the small cigarette lighter 110 volt inverters. They're cheap to begin with, but keep your eye on the on line flyer, they come on at half price often. They have lots of power to run the built in pump, and that pump is over twice as fast as an external one. The built in one also deflates the bed, more thoroughly and faster than by hand.

If you can find the right nozzle, but why not just use the AC pump? A foot pump is extra work on your part.

Question

My new mattress has the pump installed in the pillow rather than at the feet. Is mine defective?

I have not inflated it yet as it may not be comfortable like this and I'll likely return it. It does not match the picture or the instruction pamphlet.

answer 2
the pump is by the pillow.
The reason for this is because people normally put the pillow part by the wall which is where the plug is so they moved it to the pillow side to make it easier to plug in.

the image on the website is not correct.

Unfortunately there is no easy method to fold the airbed to put it back into the original packaging. The beds are machine-pressed at the factory to get the air out so it would be very difficult to replicate by hand.

Question

How much does this weigh? How large is the carrying case?

I'm planning to travel with this if purchased, and I was curious as to how much everything weighs/the dimensions when it's deflated and packed into the travel bag?
Thanks!
