Question

Whirring noise?

Has anyone else's unit developed a whirring noise? I've figured out that it's connected to the thing that spins to create the flames, but I can't figure out how to make it stop!

A defective motor can be fixed by drilling a small hole through the plate of the motor and dripping a few drops of oil into it. it's a special motor that is geared down inside and it's those small gears inside that's making all the racket. on the same side the shaft comes out you'll see 3 small pins that hold the gears in place, right in the middle of the 3 pins you can drill the hole. a 1/64 or a 1/32 should be plenty big enough to put in a few drops of oil.

You can try looking up in the Questions again and look for Magpie's answer. Her husband found a way to fix it. I'm going to try it too because mine also makes a loud noise with the flame and an even louder noise with the heater fan.

To stop that noise you have to tighten the rod that’s connected to the motor. If that still occurs it’s a defective motor.

Question

Flames?

The picture just seems to show a glow. Does this fireplace actually have electric flames or is it just going to sit there and glow at me?

Can you adjust the heating level?

Is it possible to have just the flame (hopefully) and no heat?

Thank you.

Yes there is a flame, the glow appears because of photography lighting the actual unit has a very nice fire and the speed can be adjusted. There are 2 heat levels 750/1500 w and you can have just the flames on without the heat.

Your power bill increase is easy to calculate. First, find the wattage for the unit you are buying. Let's assume 1500W. Then, take the watts and divide it by 1000. This will give you the KwH that your unit will use in 1 hour. Then, multiply your KwH by the cost of the electricity. Here in N.B, the cost is .0925 cents per KwH. So then, a 1500W unit would cost... ((1500/1000)) X 0.0925 = 0.13875 Cents per hour of operation. If you use it 8 hours a day for 30 days, your monthly bill will increase $33.30
Enjoy!

Wrongo! You can absolutely paint these fireplaces. They turn out beautifully. For best results and durabilty, I suggest priming it and then using melamine paint tinted to your chosen colour. Do two thin coats of the paint for best outcome.
I turned an oak coloured one white for my daughter's room and it's gorgeous.
Easy too.

1. Lift up front edge of log until clears the front tabs; But remove the 2 screws first. 1 on the left and on the right. Lift out the buttom mat.
2. Examine the bulbs to determine which bulbs require replacement.
3. Hold the socket while unscrewing the bulb.
4. Hold the socket while screwing in the new bulb.
5. Replace the log by pushing it down and in until it rests against the holds for the screws and replace the screws.
