Update/Correction: The Canadian Tire exchange warranty for this product has since been reduced to 1 year, redeemable at any Canadian Tire store. Keep in mind this is NOT the same as the product's 3 Year Replacement Warranty (reduced from its original 5 Years). What this means is, if your product fails more than a year after purchase, you can no longer return it to your Canadian Tire store for an exchange. Instead, you must contact Mastercraft directly at 1-800-689-9928, and arrange for a replacement of your product. You have until the end of the product's 3 Year Replacement Warranty to do so.

Question

What will be the maximum safety height of the feet from the ground when this ladder is in the tallest step ladder configuration (like an "A" shape")?

I have 12 ft high ceiling and am about 5'6" tall. I would like to know if I can use this ladder in the step ladder configuration to change the ceiling bulbs in my house.

The highest working height of 61-1055 is 4'10 in the "A" shape. If you’re 5’ 6”, assuming a 2’ arm length and a neck and head height of 1’, the ladder will give you an approximate reach of 11’ putting you just shy of your 12’ ceiling.

Question

When returned to its original (shortest, storage position), is the ladder suppose to lock in the center hinges?

Ladder is still able to swing wide open and the next locking position is at the "A" position.

Yes, the ladder is supposed to lock in its vertical extension ladder position. I recommend trying to straighten the ladder with a little speed/gusto to ensure the hinge ‘clicks’ into the locked position. If you are unable to get the ladder to lock in the vertical position, do not use the ladder. Return it to your local Canadian Tire for an exchange.

Question

what is the width of the base?

I need to get into the attic, but the opening to the attic is small. From the pictures I see the base is wider than the middle. What to know if I use it as an extension ladder to climb thru the attic opening.

Question

How does the multi-use ladder have a spare set of hinges for the scaffold position??

The "scaffold" pictures shown with Product #61-1055-8 show four identical hinge mechanisms whereas the initial picture shows two. Does the ladder come with a spare set of hinges?

The image is not entirely correct. It shows 2 multi-ladders being used with a plank which is why you can see 2 sets of hinges. It is not an image of 1 ladder split into 2 ‘A’ frame. The image is being removed.
