Questions & Answers for Raid Raid® Liquid Ant Killer

Question

What month should I be applying Raid Liquid Ant Killer to the numerous ant hills in my backyard?

I have an ant infestation in the backyard. Does this product come in larger amounts? Or can you suggest something else? The grass is gone and needs to be replaced but first we want to solve the ant problem? Any suggestions? Thanks, Pia

This probably isn't for you. It is essentially a sugary poisonous ant water. Good for one or two nests. For larger infestations like a back yard you need something a bit more industrial.

To be honest, if the grass is completely gone you might want to use an actual pesticide.

Otherwise, you might want to just 'bomb' it. Grab several of the spray cans, a couple of this type, and a few others and use 3 different poisons on each nest. Nothing will stay after that :) Just try to keep any available food sources away from them.

Us it anytime June - August (whenever they are active). I suggest a combination of Ant Nest destroyer (if you know where the ant hills are), and Outdoor Ant Spikes (to place throughout the yard, not necessarily where the ant hills are). That should solve the ant problem before you replant your grass.

Every month I go through the yard and locate new nests and bait them out. Just becuase you've taken care of your yard doesn't mean your neighbor has. On the positive note, I only use about 1-2 bottles at the most per year. I place it in a bottle cap and cover it near the nest to keep out the elements. Usually works in 2-4 days.

It is like a Gel. I would place it on a little piece of thicker paper, so it doesn't stain.

Heavy thick, like honey. Difficult to get it off of things. Put it on wax paper instead of the surface when possible.

it's closer to a gel . . . . I would compare it to the consistency of honey.
