Slide that wire guide up and through the slot on the nose of the stapler. Push it up as far as it will go. It should now sit flush with the bottom of the stapler. Now when you place the stapler over a cable (like a telephone or coax cable) the guide straddles it and ensures you don't drive a staple through it. Pretty clever!

On the side of the tool is the wire guide (picture-1). It is to be inserted into the nose of the tool from the bottom of the tool (picture-2). The narrow side goes in first and then you push it into the tool until it is fully inserted (picture-3). I have attached a couple of pictures to make it easier.

Question

Stop the Rust

I have had some surface rust begin to form on the metal under trigger handle...any suggestions to deter this from forming? Is it easy to take apart so I could perhaps treat with a rust inhibiting paint?

As with any tool, you should limit the exposure to the elements (rain, extreme moisture, dampness). You could scrape away the rust or use CLR and use a rust inhibiting paint; however please keep in mind this sort of action would void all warranties.

Pinch the black plastic corner with your thumb and pointy finger. THen, pull it straight down about a 1/4 inch, then slide it straight back of the stapler.

Question

How do you load brad nails in this thing?

I can not figure it out for the life of me. I have had it for over a year and have lost the instructions. Loading staples I can do. Brad nails are a mystery.

The nails go into the same channel that the staples go; however, they go flat against the side of the staple gun that contains the window that allows you to see if there are staples or nails in the channel.

In order to load the tool, pull out the staple/nail pusher and lay the gun down so that the side with the window is against the table. Then insert the nails into the channel against the side of the channel that is laying on the table and close the staple/nail pusher.
