Question

Whats the differance between AW32, AW46 & AW68?

If it is the viscosity of the oil, then what is the application for each?

The difference between these oils is their viscosity. They can be described as Hydraulic oil containing rust and oxidation inhibitors and anti-wear (AW) additives. They are graded according to ISO industrial standards for viscosity. Hydraulic AW 32 is less viscous than AW 46 which is less viscous than AW 68. Hydraulic pumps vary in their application and should specify which ISO viscosity grade oil is recommended for use in their operating manuals

Can this oil be used to top up the hydraulic reservoir on a YALE lift truck ?

If the manual for the lift truck or the nameplate on the lift truck indicate that an ISO 32 hydraulic oil is required, then Certified Hydraulic AW 32 is appropriate. However, Yale also lists ISO 46 and SAE 10W hydraulic oils, so the requirements of the specific lift truck model must be known. ISO 32 and SAE 10W are typically interchangeable.

Question

What's the difference between iso 32 and iso aw32?

Are either of these equivalent to Exxon Nuto HD32? If not, do you have a product that is equivalent?

ISO 32 and ISO AW 32 are both ISO grades 32. The AW simply refers to “anti-wear”. It is a descriptor and may or may not be present – it’s optional. For example Exxon Nuto H is ISO 32 and is also an anti-wear hydraulic oil.

The Certified Hydraulic AW 32 fluid is an ISO Viscosity Grade (ISO VG) 32 oil. But please remember - ISO VG 32 only refers to the viscosity of the fluid, not the additives included or the OEM specifications that the fluid meets, etc. We say this because we also noticed that you mentioned a “134 d” oil specification. With this, we are assuming that you’re are referring to a Ford New Holland M2C 134 D specification(?) If so, then no - the Certified Hyd AW 32 fluid would not meet that Ford 134 D specification. For that, you should be looking at a “Universal Tractor Hydraulic Fluid” – such as the MM TDH Fluid.

Having that said, the MM TDH Tractor Fluid is a 10W30, and not a straight ISO VG 32 viscosity oil (again, the TDH Fluid is a 10W30 multi-viscosity oil). But we’ve made a few assumptions here, which may or may not be correct. Therefore, we would need to know a little bit more about your OEM/application - and what exactly is the requirement for the fluid - before giving you a definitive answer on the proper fluid to use.

No, we would not recommend the Certified Hydraulic AW 32 product for this application/specification (J20C). Rather, the proper product for this specification would be the MotorMaster TDH Fluid.

Certified Hydraulic AW 32 is suitable for use in all equipment where an ISO 32 viscosity grade antiwear hydraulic oil is specified or required. The recommendation of the equipment manufacturer should always be followed when selecting lubricants and fluids for the equipment.
